9:00 AM: Leave Ho Chi Minh City Behind

Your driver collects you from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh for the journey to Can Tho. As the city gives way to waterways, cultivated fields and village gardens, the days ahead begin to take shape.

Early Afternoon: Your First Taste of the Mekong

Arrive at your countryside retreat for a Southern Vietnamese lunch. Fresh herbs and dishes placed at the centre of the table invite you to share your first meal in the Delta.

Check into your room and take time to unpack, refresh and enjoy the gardens before meeting your local host.

3 pm - our host pick up you to discover Mekong Local Life And Rural Village Ride

Scenic Village Ride: You will see real life happening along the water where children go swimming, women wash clothes while they chat and laugh, old men smile and nod as you pass. It's an invitation to see how people actually live, love, and belong to this river.

Local Fruits Discovery: Bike through riverside fruit gardens where golden mangoes, spiky jackfruits, star apples, and pineapples ‘tempt’ you with their seasonal fragrance and flavor. Your guide will share how farmers grow and take care of these tasty fruits.

Rice Fields Experience: Ride past rice paddy fields, taste seasonal fruits, and immerse yourself in the smallest, gentlest moments that stay with you long after everything else blurs.

Day 2: Floating market, Small canals, Noodle Villages, Mua Xuan Wetland

6:30 AM: Set Out with Your Local Host

Meet your host at your accommodation and travel by traditional sampan journey. A small boat brings you close to the river’s working life, with your host helping you understand what unfolds around you.

Cai Rang Floating Marke t: Breakfast Among the Trading Boats

At Cai Rang, discover boats carrying produce, floating kitchens and the routines of a community whose livelihoods follow the river.

Enjoy warm rice noodle soup and Vietnamese coffee served on the water as boats move around you. Your host explains the produce displayed on poles and the exchanges between traders, giving context to the morning’s activity. When circumstances allow and traders welcome a visit, step aboard a fruit boat for a closer glimpse of the goods and life carried within it.

A Family Rice Noodle factory: The Craft Behind Your Breakfast

Visit a family workshop to discover how rice becomes noodles, from preparing the mixture to steaming, drying and cutting the sheets.

Meet the people behind the process and, when production allows, try a step yourself. The bowl you enjoyed on the river takes on new meaning as you see the skill behind a familiar daily food.

Small Canals: Life Along the Water: Continue into narrower waterways, where tropical greenery, gardens and waterside homes draw closer.

From the sampan, notice the ways families use the riverbank: a boat tied beside a house, plants growing at the water’s edge, a small landing connecting home and canal. Your host helps you read these everyday details.

Mua Xuan Wetland Experience: Journey deeper into the green wetlands of Mua Xuan by small boat, surrounded by floating vegetation and the sounds of nature. Look for kingfishers, herons and other wetland birdlife, wander beneath the forest canopy, then climb the observation tower for sweeping views across this peaceful landscape.

Lunch in the Wetlands: Slow down over a thoughtfully prepared local lunch in the heart of Mua Xuan, with dishes inspired by the flavours and culinary traditions of the Mekong.

Leave your retreat by car for a full day exploring the agricultural landscapes and wetlands beyond Can Tho.

Your first stop is the Pineapple Villages: Leave the familiar routes behind and cycle into a landscape still virtually unknown to travellers. Narrow country lanes lead through sweeping pineapple fields, rice paddies, coconut gardens and graceful rows of areca palms, with farmers working much as they have for generations. There are no staged attractions here and almost no tourism. The experience is simply to move slowly through the countryside, meet people naturally and discover a part of the Mekong that still feels deeply local, private and untouched.

Lunch with a Local Family: Pause for a home-cooked lunch prepared by a local family, sharing regional dishes in a peaceful countryside setting where hospitality feels personal and unhurried.
